CHAPTER 33

Kaylie took careful, measured steps, the pistol raised.

“You’re more resourceful than I thought,” Niruku said.

As he spoke, the glowing orb fluctuated in time with his voice.

“What-what are you?” Kaylie asked, her mouth agape.

The connection to Estia had dropped unexpectedly. She was alone now.

Was Ray still alive? Was Estia?

“I am Niruku. I have always been Niruku.”

Sanctum Sanctorum. She had heard that phrase in Italy on Earth.

She pointed the gun at the orb.
